Is technical knowledge necessary?

No that is not necessary, you can have a new functioning smart key without any technical knowledge.

What do you need to do?

Step 1. Open your existing smart key housing, remove the battery holder.

Step 2. Attach the battery into the new battery holder and place the battery holder back into the smart key housing. Close the housing.

Step 3. Insert the key blade (the mostly iron key) into your smart key housing.

Step 4. That's all, you now have a properly functioning smart key again.
